Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions to Welcome 25 New ICUDEs

Four continents represented in Class of 2024  

MADISON, Wis.—Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions (WFCU) on July 23 will recognize 25 awardees from four continents as the International Credit Union Development Educator (ICUDE) Class of 2024 at the Global DE Social event held in conjunction with the 2024 World Credit Union Conference (WCUC 2024) in Boston (USA).  

A diverse group of professionals from across the international credit union movement met the four required criteria to qualify for this unique designation. 

The ICUDE Class of 2024 is comprised of: 

Africa 

  • Triza Magreta, MUDI Savings and Credit Cooperative (Malawi) 
  • Bernard Bingab, UEW Credit Union/Ghana Cooperative Credit Unions Association (Ghana) 
  • Joan Atuhurra, African Confederation of Cooperative Savings and Credit Association (ACCOSCA), Uganda 

Caribbean  

  • Austin Brown, Community & Workers of Jamaica Co-operative Credit Union, Ltd., Jamaica 
  • Naddian Damier, National Co-operative Credit Union Limited, Dominica 
  • Kerry Ann McCollin, United Enterprise Credit Union Ltd., Barbados 
  • Carlos Rochester, United Enterprise Credit Union Ltd., Barbados 

Pending the completion of one of the criteria before the awards ceremony, pre-approved applications from the Caribbean include: 

  • Heather Thurab Schulz, UWI Credit Union Co-operative Society Ltd., Trinidad & Tobago 
  • Melaine Campbell, Co-operative Credit Union League, Jamaica 
  • Kimberley Lindo, Co-operative Credit Union League, Jamaica

United States

Europe 

  • Dr. Manuela von Goler, AAA Auctor Actor Advisor GmbH, Germany 
  • Christine Barretto, Health Service Staffs Credit Union, Ireland 
  • Rob Lovesey, Serve and Protect Credit Union, United Kingdom 
  • Catherine Davenport, Capital Credit Union, Scotland 
  • Billy Doyle, Dundalk Credit Union, Ireland 

Each of the 25 designees will be welcomed and recognized by the Global Development Educator (DE) community during WCUC 2024 at WFCU’s inaugural Global DE Social, on Tuesday, July 23, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., at Harpoon Brewery in Boston.

WFCU coordinates the ICUDE application and review process in partnership with the seven active CUDE programs worldwide. These program partners are:  

Africa DE (ADE) – Coordinated by the Africa Confederation of Co-operative Savings & Credit Associations (ACCOSCA) 

Asia DE (ACDE) – Coordinated by the Association of Asian Confederation of Credit Unions (ACCU) 

Canada DE – Coordinated by Saint Mary’s University 

Caribbean DE – Coordinated by Melvin Edwards 

European DE (DEEU) – Coordinated by Robert Kelly & Donald Urquhart 

Philippines DE (PHDE) – Coordinated by Dudz Samson and VICTO National 

United States DE (CUDE™)  – Coordinated by the National Credit Union Foundation 

Becoming an ICUDE requires each applicant to complete their home country’s DE program, in addition to three other criteria.  

Credit Union Development Educators commit themselves to living the cooperative principles embedded in the global credit union movement and within each country that is home to credit unions.
